The Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve officially opened this Monday, strengthening Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s presence in Portugal and Southern Europe. The property, managed by DETAILS – Hospitality, Sports, Leisure, Arrow Global’s management platform in Portugal, is the result of the rebranding of the former Dom Pedro Vilamoura.
Classified as an upper-upscale hotel, the Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve is positioned, according to a press release issued by Hyatt, as a contemporary coastal retreat in the heart of Vilamoura, just steps away from the marina, Falésia Beach, and several world-class golf courses. The property was designed to cater to various traveler profiles, from families and leisure guests to golfers, wellness clients, and business visitors.
Quoted in the statement, Manuel Melenchon, Managing Director, Southern EMEA at Hyatt, highlights that this opening “strengthens Hyatt’s commitment to brand growth in Portugal and the European market.” According to the executive, the hotel reflects the Hyatt Regency vision by combining “contemporary design, excellent service, and a dynamic leisure and business offering,” while also benefiting from a prime location and a strong focus on sports, wellness, and gastronomy.
257 rooms and suites inspired by the Algarve
The Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve features 257 rooms and 21 suites across six categories, with a design inspired by Algarvian heritage. The interiors incorporate colors and materials associated with the region—such as greens, blues, sand tones, and terracotta—reflecting a strong connection to nature and local craftsmanship. All rooms are equipped with high-speed internet, keyless entry, screen-sharing technology, and premium amenities, focusing on comfort and connectivity.
The culinary offering plays a central role in the property’s positioning. Brasa Coastal Steakhouse offers a premium dining experience featuring charcoal-grilled meats, fresh seafood, and specialties inspired by the southern coast. The Terrace Pool Bar provides a more relaxed atmosphere with cocktails and light meals by the pool, while the Lume Lounge Bar offers a more intimate concept with striking decor and daily entertainment, designed to also attract the local community.
With approximately 993 square meters of dedicated meeting and event space, the hotel offers six conference rooms and a ballroom with a capacity for up to 300 people, fully equipped to host corporate, social, and wedding events.
In the active leisure and wellness segment, the Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve features a gym equipped with Technogym technology, a heated indoor pool, outdoor yoga areas, and a spa complete with an indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and treatment rooms. The resort also boasts a racket center with padel and pickleball courts, mini-golf, petanque, and beach volleyball, along with a Kids Club and playground. Proximity to championship golf courses and an equestrian center further reinforces its link to the Algarve’s outdoor lifestyle.
For Javier Soler Muñoz, General Manager of the hotel, this opening is a celebration of the region. “This project celebrates the beauty, culture, and spirit of the Algarve, offering modern and energizing spaces, alongside immersive dining experiences and a strong commitment to sports and wellness,” he states.
Also quoted in the release, Francisco Moser, Co-CEO of DETAILS, highlights that the partnership with Hyatt Regency “strengthens Vilamoura’s position as a landmark destination in Portugal and Europe.” According to the executive, the new property elevates the DETAILS portfolio and consolidates the Algarve in the premium tourism segment, aligned with a strategy focused on standout projects that integrate hospitality, sports, and leisure.
