Chef Alexandre Cabrita leads new concept focused on local produce and relaxed fine dining
A new signature restaurant has opened at Palmares Ocean Living & Golf in Lagos, marking the latest step in the resort’s ongoing expansion.
Named Preceito, the venue is led by Alexandre Cabrita, who was named Chef of the Year 2025 in Portugal. The restaurant replaces the former AL SUD, which previously held a Michelin star, and introduces a new direction centred on local ingredients and a more relaxed dining experience.

Says the resort, the restaurant’s culinary offer aims to be an “ode to the Algarve, its products, its authenticity and its way of living.”
The menu includes options such as grilled squid with goat butter and citrus xerém (a typical corn-based porridge), sea bass with oven rice and fresh prawns caught along the Algarve coast, and beef tartare with smoked eel and cured egg yolk. Desserts are created by Andreia Carreira, using iconic Algarve ingredients like carob, almond and fig leaf.

The restaurant is designed to be more informal than its predecessor, aiming to create a space suited not only to special occasions but also for repeat visits.
The launch comes as Palmares continues to develop as a multi-purpose destination, combining golf, hospitality and residential projects, the resort says in a statement. Located near Lagos, the site includes a 27-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., alongside accommodation and leisure facilities.
As part of its residential expansion, the resort is also developing the Signature Residences, a collection of high-end properties ranging from one to three-bedroom homes. Designed by RCR Arquitectes, the residences feature large terraces, sea and golf views, private pools and integrated access to resort services, set within a natural amphitheatre overlooking the Bay of Lagos, it says.
Further developments are planned, including the future opening of the JW Marriott Algarve Palmares Hotel & Spa, expected in 2028. The project will include 172 rooms and suites, as well as 133 branded residences.
The resort is managed by the Arrow Global group, which continues to invest in new infrastructure and experiences in Portugal, including sports and wellness facilities.
